Kibale Forest National Park

Kibale Forest National Park is found in the south western Uganda. The park adjoins with Queen Elizabeth national park and is an important ecotourism and Safari destination. The park is popular for its habituated chimpanzees and other several species of primates such as the Baboons, Red Columbus Monkey, L Hoest’s monkey, pattas monkey, black and white tailed monkeys etc.

The park is 776 square kms, the thick rainforest is filled with forest Elephants which are smaller in size than their savannah counterparts, and others include Buffalos, Forest Hogs, and a few Antelopes. There are over 335 species of birds such as the Rwenzori turaco, African grey parrot etc and Butterflies species are within the forest.

The forest has got a net work of trails for chimpanzee trekking, bird watching and nature walks. Most bird watching activities are done at Bigodi wet land sanctuary.

Other attractions are in Fortportal town such as the Toro Kingdom Palace, karambi tombs. This is the burial grounds for kings of Toro Kingdom, Nyakasura hills and the craters lakes.
