Murchison Falls National Park
This is Uganda’s largest protected area situated north of Masindi District. The park is named for the dramatic Murchison falls, where River Nile explodes violently through a narrow 7m gap and fall a distance of 48m. The River Nile is the world’s longest river which cuts across Murchison Falls National park. The park covers an area of 3840 square km making it the biggest park in Uganda.

Wildlife
The park has got a variety of wild life species attraction which includes Giraffes, Lions, Buffalos, Uganda Kobs, Elephants, Warthogs and birds. These provide a good opportunity for game drive / viewing. The main area for game viewing is the peninsular between the Victoria and Albert Nile known as the Buligi circuit.
Budongo Forest
This forest is within the park which is a habitat for the chimpanzees, monkeys, baboons and birds. This provides an opportunity for chimpanzee trekking, bird watching and Nature walks activities.
The Victoria Nile
This is the most exciting attraction, and a launch cruise activities takes place up to the top of the falls. A lot of water birds species, Hippos, and Crocodiles can be viewed while on the launch cruise.
Murchison falls National Park is one of Uganda’s protected areas with a variety of vegetation raging from riparian forests, swamp lands, to broad savannah. The presence of savannah grasslands provides an opportunity of seeing all the wild animals found in this park.
Accommodation
Accommodation is available in the luxurious lodges of Paraa Safari Lodge, Sambiya Lodge. These provide up market good accommodation, while Red Chilli Rest Camp offers a convenient alternative one.

Access
From Kampala via Masindi Kichumbanyumbo gate it’s about 5-6 hours, only a 4WD vehicle is required.
