Queen Elizabeth National Park
Queen Elizabeth National Park is situated astride the Equator in the South Western part of Uganda. It’s the second largest national park in Uganda. It covers an area of 1,978 square kms.The park has varied habitats that include grasslands with thick bushes, forest, swamps and lakes. The park offers a magnificent sight seeing, game drives and viewing, launch cruises bird watching.

The park has over 100 species of mammals among which are; Lions, Elephants, Buffalos, Kobs (Uganda Kobs), Warthogs, Hyenas, and leopards etc.There are over 606 bird species a long the the Kazinga channel.
There are other attractions such as the kazinga channel which joins Lake Edward and George, launch trips are provided here. This is one of the most exciting tourist destinations in the park.
Northern crater area
The Northern crater area which is part of the queen Elizabeth National park offers explosion craters, some containing salt lakes, formed by volcanic activity these unique features are important attractions such as Lake Katwe salt mining grounds.
Maramagambo forest
This forest just out side queen Elizabeth National park is one of the biggest forests in Uganda. It covers a total area of 280 square kms.The forest has got over 242 species of trees the primary and the secondary forest, 5 species of primates, African Rock python, the blue Crater Lake, the Bat cave and Bird species.
Jacana Lodge
This lodge is within the Maramagambo forest, it only caters for up- country tourists.
Kyambura gorge
The gorge is within the savannah sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park. It’s about 16 kms long and a home to the habituated chimpanzees, baboons, monkeys and birds. The gorge is about 100m deep and organized trips for chimpanzee trekking, bird watching, nature walks and sight seeing can be made.
The Ishasha Sector
This sector is the southern part of the park where tree climbing Lions are found- hanging in the fig trees.
Access
It’s about 5-6 hours drive from Kampala via Mbarara - Kasese high way.
