Highlights include Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, Queen Elizabeth and Lake Mburo National Parks.

Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is home to almost half of worlds’ population of Mountian Gorillas. It also provides refuge to 350 different species of birds, chimpanzee, monkeys and 310 species of butterflies. It’s of course best known for the superb Gorilla tracking activity.

Queen Elizabeth boasts one of the highest biodiversity ratings of any game reserve in the world. The park encompasses open savannah, rain forest, dense papyrus swamps, Crater lakes and the vastness of Lake Edward. Almost 100 mammal species are present that includes Lion, Hippo, Buffalo, Leopard, Spotted Hyena, Elephant and the elusive Giant Forest Hog plus remarkable 606 bird species. All this makes a superb safari.

DAY 1: To Bwindi Gorilla Sanctuary

After breakfast, travel to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, with a brief stop at the equator. Experience weight changes as you cross from one hemisphere to the other. Lunch en-route in Mbarara. Proceed to Bwindi and arrive at Buhoma Park headquarters late in the afternoon. O/N (FB).

DAY 2: Gorilla tracking

Gorilla tracking. You will be accompanied by a Uganda Wildlife Authority ranger / guides and you may require a porter to carry your day pack as the terrain can be difficult, with steep slopes covered in dense vegetation that gives the park its name. Participants do need to be physically fit. The time taken to track the gorillas varies enormously, from as little as half an hour to as much as 8-9 hours before one returns to camp. The difficulty is not impossibility whilst coming face to face with one of the great primates is well worth the effort! O/N: (FB).

DAY 3: To Queen Elizabeth National Park

Depart Bwindi for Queen Elizabeth National Park via the Ishasha sector to attempt to find the tree climbing lions the area is famous for. Packed lunch en-route before proceeding to the Mweya Peninsular. Arrive at the park in time for a launch trip on the Kazinga Channel. Evening game drive on return from the launch trip time permitting. O/N: (FB).

DAY 4: Kyambura Gorge, Chimpanzee tracking

Day of game driving activities in the park including visits to the Kyambura Gorge, Kasenyi and Crater lakes areas of the park. O/N: (FB).

DAY 5: lake Mburo National Park, Game drive, Boat trip

Leave for Lake Mburo National Park via Mbarara. Boat trip and an evening game drive. O/N: (FB).
